WORLD WAR II
Most of the material from our collections has never been released, and some of the footage was filmed in extreme conditions, by brave film-makers who risked imprisonment at a time when filming was prohibited and getting hold of film was very difficult.
We invite you to discover our collection of films about World War II, some of which are impressive (certain films come with warnings), while others are full of hope and joy. You can also visit our “carte blanche” selection by Marc Pottier, a historical advisor who was previously the director of education and scientific research at the Caen Memorial.
In addition, the resources section contains several articles and montages of archive footage, produced by our members, which provide a contemporary perspective.
We hope you will enjoy discovering these rare images, which could have been lost for ever...
