Ofnibus - résidence d'archives itinérante
OFNIBUS is a non-profit organisation (under the 1901 law) created by vintage film enthusiasts who have been working in the archival field for over 10 years. OFNIBUS wants to play its part in preserving and passing on the shared heritage of amateur films. Its mobile teams can travel to the places where films are located, providing expertise to help local players (associations, local authorities, etc.) bring regional heritage to life.
OFNIBUS is working to develop a system of residencies during which teams carry out comprehensive inventories of films in the regions visited (format, length, year, place, author), digitise samples during the residency, and pursue the important task of raising awareness about the need to preserve audiovisual archives. OFNIBUS receives funding from public authorities, since the digitisation of private films can only be done with the goal of creating collective heritage. Cassettes and reels of film are fragile, and urgently need to be preserved.
OFNIBUS works in close partnership with other Diazinteregio members so that the films discovered can be passed on to the film libraries and archives in the regions concerned.
