Cinémathèque des Pays de Savoie et de l'Ain

For 25 years, the Cinémathèque des Pays de Savoie et de l’Ain has been collecting, cataloguing, preserving and showcasing unseen film archives and cinema equipment from the Haute-Savoie, Savoie and Ain regions.
To date, over 10,000 reels of film and video material, including family footage and films made by associations or institutions, have been saved. 
In addition, over 700 pieces of film equipment have been collected. 
These collections help drive cultural initiatives in the region: they are presented in exhibitions, image education workshops or public screenings, and are also available to the general public via the film library’s online catalogue.

Collecting, Preserving and Showcasing
Once the film and video materials have been collected and digitised, the original media are stored at partner Archives in the region (Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Ain), while the digital masters are archived on several data storage systems: servers, cloud servers, and LTO tape cartridges both onsite and offsite (cold archiving) to ensure data redundancy.
The Cinémathèque des Pays de Savoie et de l’Ain is committed to making its collections of documents and materials available to the public, while respecting copyright.
It therefore grants temporary licenses to screen extracts from its collections to local authorities, institutions, production companies, film directors or television channels that place orders to use footage.
Occasionally, it produces, distributes and promotes films or audiovisual media that contain archived material from its collections.
The film library also seeks to build relationships and encourage joint projects with other public or private organisations in France or abroad that perform similar functions. 
It is an affiliate member of FIAF, and an active member of Diazinteregio and Inédits Film amateur / Mémoire d'Europe.
