Cinéam - Mémoire filmique d'Île de France
CINEAM mainly collects family footage recorded on 9.5 mm, 16 mm, 8 mm and Super 8 film, as well as videos. From the guinguettes of the 1930s, to the harvests, family parties and village festivals of the 1940s; from detached sandstone houses in the Parisian suburbs and swimming in the Seine, to the construction of large housing complexes in the 1960s: these films are a poetic illustration of how our lives have changed, how our countryside and landscapes have been transformed, and how architecture and housing have evolved over the years. We work directly with the public, amateur film-makers or their families, to explain that this private footage must be preserved without delay. The films are digitised at high resolution, then indexed in a database that is shared with many other regional film libraries and archives in France. To show this footage to the general public, we create documentaries or organise screenings, exhibitions, workshops and film concerts in partnership with associations, towns and villages, museums, cinemas, libraries, schools and universities.
